The next big step

After my first day of my start in walking (on the road less traveled as my friend put his comment), my thighs weighed a ton. I took my daughter's dog Rottweiler for a walk. I covered a distance of 1.67 miles, spent 166 calories in 34 minutes and was ready to call it a day. There was heat stroke warning and that was enough of a reason to sit back and watch TV .
My friend who has come to visit me , accompanied me on my first day and when I went out with the dog. He asked whether we plan to go on a walk by ourselves. I was surprised that he even asked. Both of us were out of shape and what we did on day one was a Himalayan task.
Just to irritate him, I said, "get ready in five minutes". He did!
We walked in the trail for second day. After the first mile, the lead increased and I couldn't believe my own eyes . He was kicking my butt and by the time we got close to exit, we had walked five miles. He started to walk back home.
Feeling bad that I got beat by a distance, I asked him to go and continued walking. When I reached home, I had walked 6.57 miles in 1.51.43 seconds. I had burn't 567 calories. So my second day of walking, including my dog walk crossed 8 miles and in total had burn't more than 700 calories. My walking speed had improved from more than 18 mts per mile to less than 17 mts. I felt good.
The pain due to discipline weighs a lot less than the pain due to disappointment.
