There are times in our lives, when we are so scared, life appears to be a burden to drag it along, when we want to give up and nothing, nothing is going right. We want someone to be there to hear us, to share with us our struggles, to say that this too shall pass and there is a better tomorrow. We want someone to understand us, to empathize with us, to tell us that our hard times will bear a testimony someday and make us believe that it will soon end up in the rear view mirror.
We have undergone the test of times and are at a different place at different times. What was once a longing is all but forgotten. We have become immune to the sufferings of day to day life, our status has grown, bank balances have swelled, wants have been erased, successes has replaced misery and desires have been fulfilled.
There are people around us, known and unknown, family, friends, acquaintances, co workers and strangers. Many are going through what we once experienced. We see them smile, appreciate our work, talk good about us and give us a taste of what success looks like. They are our subordinates, friends, neighbors, people whom we have come across but don't make an impact. These are the people who have longed to find the path to fulfillment, ordinary persons who neither had the support, the guidance and forced by the situations to accept mediocrity in life.
Our ambitions have left less time to look around us, our age has given the urgency to make what is left of us, our focus has turned to leaving a legacy behind and what is left of us is spent on ensuring that our evening of our lives takes care of our wants, needs and the unfulfilled promises we made to ourselves.
It is a time to pause, search our souls, find the true meaning of our birth and question ourselves whether we have made a difference to the society we are a part of, whether we have utilized all our emotions given to us to share, empathize, inspire, understand and convey to those who are still searching that there is hope, a future and that they are not forgotten.
It all begins by saying, "I care" and reaching out to make a difference in people lives. One might never get another opportunity to help or bring a smile on their faces. So please don't walk away.
