In search of destiny through the darkness of night, some saw the light through rays of sun in the break of dawn that came through splinters and felt hopeful. Some saw nothing and the darkness engulfed their vision and believed their quest was in vain. They gave up even without turning their heads. If failures are the end to one's progress, this world would have come to a stand still, long ago. We all are endured with resilience and blessed with life to enjoy the meaning of our very existence. As we begin to understand the very purpose of our presence in this Universe, we start to question the happiness we experience as we perceive and begin to wonder what true happiness will do to our senses. Knowledge is put to test, belief system is questioned, confusion rather than clarity descends. The difference between myth and real gets blurred.Fear engulfs. Denial appears to reduce anxiety, but one understands it is short lived. It gives a breather. But for those who accept pain as in labor, the happiness will blossom as seen on a mother's face when she looks at the newborn and hears the cry, letting her know that this is where life begins. There is no fear, in its place is a smile; There is no words spoken but she understands the needs. She cuddles and the new born experiences the warmth of her skin and settles down. What transpires between mother and child is difficult to fathom. It is a personal experience. One can describe, but it is not the same. One can only try to understand. Similarly, the path is never straight to one's destiny. There is pain as one steps on thorns and stones which reflect the failures of one's life experiences; It becomes easier to give up and return to mundane life. But to those who persevere through determination and introspection, the threshold to pain tolerance is increased, diversions get decreased and the goal is singularly focussed. The mountain top is within one's reach. There is no more amazement but a sense of calmness that descends. There is no victory celebrated as it becomes a personal experience. It is a gratification that can be only understood by those who experience the peace. It is difficult to explain to anyone -how would one make a person understand how sweet tastes if he has never tasted it.But looking at those who have been there kindles one's quest to better themselves. The sages guide but never share. They want it to be an individual experience. And the voyage begins for the next generation.
"Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving, and full of the desire to serve...Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, you will achieve your destiny.
