Three kids of Muslim faith executed by a lone gunman because he felt he could silence the voices of the innocent who believed in their faith. He claims that a dispute of parking one's car led to this eventuality. His wife also believes his version.
Does it make sense to any of us. That we can take law into our hands and attribute our thinking to this mayhem.
I dreaded this scenario that flashed past my mind. I want a father of two daughters who have had the best of his feelings for a happy and prosperous life for his children, only to be told that it doesn't happen in America. And then say it is OK.
All that the Son In Law wanted to do was carry out a dental clinic (as he was doing dentistry)for the refugees of Syria descent in a camp. He was short of 20,000 dollars but to clear our guilt, we have poured our resources to raise more than ten times- only after his death.
When will we listen to the unspoken voices that begs us to accept everyone of all faith and to treat people with respect and dignity they so richly deserve. I heard and watched in YouTube an Indian father who had come from India (just to care for his grandson who has some birth defect) being confronted by police who threw him to the ground and left him paralyzed just because he couldn't speak the language except telling the cops of the address and his son's name.
Where are we as a nation who believe in the melting pot and attribute our success to the immigration policy we have. Its a dog eat dog world. I an so ashamed to be a proponent of this country's success. I honor the dead who gave their lives and have become more resolute to speak up for the people whose voices are not heard and will be only proud to give up my life for a cause that deserves more than its fair share. How is Kassig, Sotloff and Foley's killings different from Deah, Yusor and Razan:
Could the way they were killed be considered as sub human because a knife was used and not a gun. Is the American awakening sensitive to only death other than a gun. Not a single Elected Representative of the Congress bothered to go in front of a TV camera and call the deaths of three innocent Muslim for what it is.
Obama calls it brutal and the FBI has started a preliminary investigation, thanks to the local police for asking for it. 4500 N Carolinas paid their last respects, a history making incident for the residents of NC Univ and its neighborhood. Many around the world were in shock and immigrants of this country woke up to the reality that it could be them or their family members because they have a different faith or look different.
The man accused is a older, heavy built and has been attending para legal course and one reporter described his image at the Univ as a stellar student who was friendly and helpful. I don't hear about the terrorists in our custody to be given such accolades and no reporter bothered even to find out his or her background.
It was all about a parking space quarrel as told to us by the Police and the wife of the accused. And the truth is, there was no car parked in the disputed spaces on the day the three young Muslim kids were executed. There was nothing to aggravate a situation that was in dispute but on the contrary it was cleared by the association which stated that the space did not, I repeat, did not belong to anyone.
The Senators and Representatives take to the mike, visit the families who are affected and talk on TV about the white Americans who have been held hostage or decapitated. Not one, yet, reached out to the victims families and conveyed their condolences. Two blacks did. One is our President who said how brutal it was and the office of the other black, Eric Holder, the Attorney General's office under whom is the FBI.
The whites are no more privileged than the other communities. That is the constitution telling us so. If you don't live by the words ingrained into us for understanding the greatness of this country, then you will never learn until one sheds the complex of superiority and willingly allows oneself to be grounded.
Life matters. Everyone's life matters.
