It was the summer in 2012 School ended as I started to dwelve Going to College was not in doubt Where will I end was all about.

I met this girl the day before I left In pursuit of my dreams, a promise kept Fulfilling most of my parents wishes My future secure with degrees that accomplishes.

Introduced by my friend, felt awkward till the end Awe struck by her looks, panic set in to befriend knowing it will lead to ecstasy If only she could feel my urgency My lips parched, my throat dry Words wouldn’t come easy.

A year passed , campus activities became my life Saw this girl walk past by, to the music of fife Ran across the road, vehicles screeching to a halt With my heart pounding as I began to vault. She stopped in her track Eyes widening as she looked back Brought out words rehearsed in my mind Praying she wouldn’t be unkind. “She remembers”, is all that I care Standing a chance as I was ready to bare The love that kept growing I had for her Until now,not finding a way to deliver. Walked beside her ignoring the motorists’ curses Kept her engaged till the stop for busses Got her number and asked what major she took Had more to offer as I had the books. Sat with her during concerts and games Agreed with her to avoid situations that enflames Put pictures on facebook, phoned and messaged My life from others was totally disengaged. On Vacations and holidays I had to go To return to home, but my mind wouldn’t let go Of her and the relationship just for a while Took the beat in my stride, making me less agile. My parents welcomed me with open arms Why was this disconnect as I wanted to be in her arms Turned on the Television to get distracted Texted her as I watched, finding hard to be extracted And so it happened on the day of graduation Came down the dias towards my people for celebration As she stood dazzling, with my family in tow Went down on my knees after taking a bow. “Will you marry me”, words tumbled out Exposed the ring I palmed that made her freak out “Yes, Yes, Yes”, she kept saying Kissed on my lips with tears flowing Hugged her hard and kept beaming.
